Summary: The Rotary Club of Alpharetta partnered with Ed Isakson/Alpharetta YMCA and MUST Ministries to help feed the children at the Aspen Pointe apartment complex 5-days per week throughout the summer. Without free and reduced lunch programs during the school year, many of these children and families fall into the category of “food insecure,” with insufficient resources to provide nutritious meals each day. With funding provided in part, by a grant from the Walmart Foundation, the Y and committed community volunteers like the Rotary Club of Alpharetta we were able to ensure these children receive a nutritious lunch and an opportunity to engage in fun, enriching activities. The program was wonderfully simple, and yet enormously impactful. Each weekday, the Y Summer Feeding Program Coordinator arrived at Roswell United Methodist Church at 10:30 to pick-up 80 lunches that have been prepared by MUST Ministries staff and volunteers. The Coordinator will meet volunteers (minimum of 2, maximum of 6) at Aspen Pointe at 11 a.m. The group will work together, under the direction of the Coordinator, to distribute the lunches and engage the children in a planned activity.
