Paul Ray and John Shipes traveled with the 2015 Wilderness Team to Honduras March 14-21.  There they spent three days working on various projects, including completing a sidewalk and patio at the local school, and pouring concrete porches for local Hondurans.  The “big pour” on Wednesday was for the footing for a pedestrian bridge that will connect the elementary and middle schools.  With the help of many Hondurans, the team made and poured over 50K pounds of concrete for the footing alone.

On Thursday, the big events included MAP International delivering their 5 billionth shipment of medicine to Honduras.  Also, there was the dedication of “Vince Dooley Field”.  On hand for the festivities were President Juan Orlando Hernandez of Honduras, Steve Stirling, CEO of MAP International, Scott Luttrell (Chairman) and Jerry Eickoff (CEO) from Honduras Outreach, Patrick Manley, former captain of the Chicago Bears, and Coach Vince Dooley and his wife Barbara.

President Hernandez took time to thank the Wilderness Team, HAVE Foundation, and HOI for the work that has been done in the Algata Valley.  He also accepted the medical supplies from MAP on behalf of the Honduran people.  Afterwards, everyone proceeded to Vince Dooley Field for dedication ceremonies and a great local soccer match.
