The Alpharetta Golden Age Club (AGAC) has been having a Thanksgiving Luncheon since 1985, when it was started at Providence Park.  The AGAC was an idea that was created between Fulton County and the City of Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Departments. The Club met at Providence Park until 1988 when the City of Alpharetta opened its new Alpharetta Senior Activity Center which is now called the Alpharetta Adult Activity Center.

The Thanksgiving Luncheon has been a large event for AGAC since 1985. Sophia and Harvey Crouch, from the Rotary Club, approached the AGAC about helping out with the Luncheon and now the Rotary Club has been a part of the Thanksgiving Luncheons ever since by providing $150.00 towards the luncheon cost.  This helped change the luncheon from a “Covered Dish” event to a meal totally catered.  This year it was catered by the Golden Corral which allowed everyone attending more time to spend with one another and enjoy the entertainment provided by a wonderful Barbershop quartet.
In years past the Rotary members helped serve the meal, but this year the AGAC had the Rotarians be their guests for lunch.  The meal was served by the AGAC Board of Directors and a few of its members. There were 130 AGAC members and invited guests at this year's Thanksgiving luncheon.
Lewis Lay, President of the Golden Age Club said, “Thank you Alpharetta Rotarians for your continued support of the Alpharetta Golden Age Club. We appreciate you”. Kirk Driskell, President of the Alpharetta Rotary Club said, “Our club looks forward each year to supporting the Thanksgiving Luncheon for the Golden Age Club and interacting with its members.”
