At the Alpharetta Rotary Club meeting on Friday, 8/22/2014, member John Shipes received his blue badge, John Hipes awarded past president badges to Lyman Louis, Harvey Crouch, Sofia Crouch, and Rory Young for their service as past presidents of other Rotary Clubs.  Mike Lowry presented the club with a $1,000 donation that Hank Delling left to the club in his will, and Ted Schwartz announced that this years Mayor's Challenge would be dedicated in Hanks' honor. 
 
This weeks meeting was all about how the money we raise is being used in our community.  Jason Binder discussed how the Grant Process works and highlighted several projects in the club that have received grants, including projects sponsored by  James Benson, Joe Wargo, and Ted Schwartz.

One of the projects that has received grant funds is "Next Generation Focus".  James Benson spoke to the club about how the program helps children with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Joe Wargo discussed several Grant projects, including Casino Night to support the Drake House, a Jekyll Brewery fundraiser to support "Stand up for Kids", and an upcoming project to support Alzheimers research.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Ted Schwartz wrapped up the meeting with an update on the Mayor's Challenge and the terrific progress that has been made.
